Journey Overview

Your first stop is the beautiful Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge where you will spot many of Australia’s creatures. Be careful on the drive to the lodge as there are a lot of wallabies and kangaroos in the area!

Explore the bush via hiking, or horseback riding, or jump in a canoe to see Cradle Mountain up close – there are so many activities to do here you certainly won’t be bored!

Next stop: the award winning Saffire Lodge. We don’t know what we love more about this stunning place – the food, the service, or the accommodation. Your all-inclusive escape to one of the most beautiful parts of Tasmania awaits, as does the delicious food, wine, cocktails and cheese. You wouldn’t normally want to leave, but lucky for you the next stop is just as magical: Satellite Island.

Satellite Island has never before been accessible to the public until now. It remains utterly unspoilt. With 360 degree views of the southern hemisphere wilderness – a mix of beautiful native bush, ancient blue gums, sheer sea cliffs, pebble beaches and sunny coves – Satellite Island is a secluded secret hideaway, yours alone to explore.

Trip Itinerary Details

DAY ONE

One way airfare flying Virgin Australia business class. Collect your car at Launceston airport and take a leisurely drive to Cradle Mountain Lodge, your accommodation for the next 3 nights. Settle in this afternoon and the rest of the evening is yours at leisure.

DAY TWO

Start the morning with a delicious breakfast and then head off on your chosen activity for today. We suggest an adventure day – take off on your e-bikes with your picnic (prepared for you and left in your room) and find a beautiful tranquil spot to enjoy. Or take off on a road trip and explore Launceston and it’s wonderful restaurants. Try to make it back to the lodge by sunset though as it is difficult navigating the drive amongst nature.

DAY THREE

Today enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then head for your guided canoe trip this morning. Glide over Dove Lake on your 5km guided canoe trip and see Cradle Mountain as no one else can. You’ll require a moderate level of fitness, duration 4 hours. Return back to the lodge this afternoon for a 1 hour Waterfall guided walk. Then get ready for your dinner back at the lodge (at own expense).

DAY FOUR

Depart today on your road trip to Saffire Lodge, Freycinet (approx. 3 ½ hours). Pop your hiking gear on and go and explore Freycinet, the views are spectacular and it would be good to move the legs after your long drive! Return this evening where your 3 course dinner awaits with wine pairings and cheese for dessert if you wish (we strongly suggest yes!!).

DAY FIVE

Our favourite activity at Saffire is the oyster farm experience, which is what you’ll be experiencing today. Don a pair of waders and visit a working oyster farm located in a beautiful setting with views of the Hazard Mountains. Develop an understanding for wetland and marine ecology, and learn why your local oysters and seafood are world renowned. Immerse yourself in this experience where you’ll connect with nature, and taste the freshly shucked oysters straight from the lease. Raise a glass and toast to one of Tasmania’s most iconic experiences. Head back to the lodge for your delicious dinner this evening.

DAY SIX

Depart today on your road trip to Satellite Island (approx. 4 hours away). Make sure you gather your produce for cooking the next 3 says on Satellite, otherwise we can book the chef for you to cater to your dinners each night (at an additional cost).

DAY SEVEN

This morning wake to the sound of sea birds, and take breakfast out on the deck before heading off on one of the Island’s stunning walking tracks. In the afternoon take the kayaks out and explore the island from the water, or cast a line from a deck chair on the Boathouse jetty and shuck your own wild oysters off the rock shelf.

DAY EIGHT

Enjoy a day to yourself today – as it’s your last day we thought you could use the break!! We suggest heading to Bruny Island – with it’s gourmet produce, winery, stunning walks and beaches and adventure activities, it is only a stone’s throw from Satellite Island.
